|

Learning: Knowledge

The phrase 'de-dollarisation' has entered the financial lexicon of late, with many once again predicting the imminent demise of the Dollar as the world's reserve currency. Nothing is new about these predictions, yet many are asking whether this time is perhaps different. Central banks appear to be hoarding as much gold as they can; and developing nations are trading more in local currency. The future of the greenback was debated at this year's annual conference Classic Debate, by two teams of engaging debaters arguing for and against the Dollar. View Carmen Nel, CFA, Head of Multi Asset Strategy at Terebinth Capital and Sandile Malinga, Co-Head of Multi-Asset and Portfolio Manager at M&G Investments who are for the motion; Prasheen Singh, Director at RisCura and Rashaad Tayob, CFA, Portfolio Manager and Macro Strategist at Foord Asset Management who are opposing the motion. With moderator Patrice Rassou, Chief Investment Officer at Ashburton Investments.
